Regenerative Planning & Place Stewardship

A six-month course for planning and place stewardship professionals

Limited spaces available. Applications close on January 14th.

Regenesis, in partnership with The Institute for the Built Environment (IBE) at Colorado State University, is offering a new invitation-only studio focused on applied regenerative practice for local government planners, landscape architects, and other land stewards.

As a participant, you will generate new capabilities to lead place-sourced work grounded in the principles of living systems. Alongside your colleagues, you will develop increased capacity for co-creating places that harmonize with the local ecology and that seed new, more holistic, innovative patterns for lifting up the local community.

Together, we will grow our individual and collective ability to respond to pressing global and regional forces through the lens of local, dynamic evolution.

About the studio

Participants will:

  • Deepen their understanding of living system principles, including experiencing and sourcing inspiration from place as a living system and seeing the inner workings of the local ecosystem
  • Grow their capacity for designing with local living ecology (both human and more-than-human), with an emphasis on growing co-creative capabilities
  • Upgrade patterns for discovering potential, including redesigning or upgrading their workflows and processes for identifying strategic interventions and where to invest resources
  • Experience the value of working from a regenerative mindset while growing both their inner and outer capacity for applied planning and place stewardship work
  • Develop a deeper regard for the potential of their work and role

Team-Based Learning

Team-Based Learning Track

This studio is designed for teams of 3-5 (or more) participants who are coming from one firm or department. We believe that the opportunities for learning and integration are greater when learning and applying coursework with one’s coworkers or colleagues. By creating a shared experience, team-based learning increases opportunities for collaboration, mutual accountability, and co-evolution.

All levels of experience are welcome. Ideally, teams will include participants with a mix of experience levels. This course is a great way to build camaraderie by participating in a shared learning space, providing opportunities to break down barriers, build connections, and stretching thinking together.

Each team will be paired with an experienced regenerative practitioner who will support them during breakout sessions in accelerating their learning. If you are a practitioner in our community and an alumnus of the Regenerative Practitioner Series, we invite you to recruit a team for which you can serve as such a resource. Teams are also encouraged to meet independently during the off-weeks between core sessions,  and may invite their assigned practitioner to join these meetings at no additional cost.

Individuals and Paired Teams (1-2 people) Track

Individual practitioners and pairs of practitioners are welcome to join the course and will be placed in a group with other individuals or small teams.  These “collections” of individuals and small teams will work together in a similar fashion outlined above.
