1. What do you see as your primary work at this stage of your life? | I see myself as a dancer and social & environmental entrepreneur. Right now I work from a large multinational as global director of corporate affairs, where I am trying to disrupt the system from within. I want to help organizations operating from an extractive paradigm transition into a regenerative one, or to replace them entirely when that's not possible. |
2. What role do you see as yours to play? | My role is to spread love, life and energy. I feel a calling to start epic adventures and ventures that help heal our planet. |
3. What goals or aims do you have in regard to the above? | I would like to help drive large regeneration systems change, not just at a community-level, but at a planetary level. i would also like to engage in a teaching practice where I can help more people leverage these insights and living systems frameworks to materialize their dreams and potential. |
4. Where do you feel your next arenas for personal growth are? | I want to learn how to balance meaningful professional work with meaninful love. I recently have moved from the US to Brazil to be with my boyfriend. I want to learn how I can further build up our romantic relationship. I also want to learn how I can be close to my parents and friends, how I can support them, despite not being in the same place. |
5. And for professional growth? | I feel I have been accumulating a lot of intelectual capital recently, I feel the need to drive real, tangible, action as I once did. I feel I havent had much positive impact in the last couple of years. I have learned the most "doing". I would also like to understand more about living systems and ecology. I am economist, which gives me great insights of how the current system operates, but often feel I don't understand living systems as well. I also want to understand how I can become the best social and environmental entrepeneur I can possibly be. |
6. What have you invested in to get you where you are? | I have invested my heart into what I do. I have invested leaps of faith. I have risked working in extractive organizations for the promise of transforming them into regenerative systems. I have travelled far away from my friends and family. I have left cities that gave me the gift of dance for the promise of love. |
7. What fields of learning and which thinkers have been important in your life? | I would say some of the most influential have been: poetry from different authors (e.g. Rilke, Pessoa, etc.), Lean Startup, Social Business - Muhammad Yunus, Social Entrepreneurship - Gregory Dees, Systems Thinking - Donella Meadows, A Pattern Language, Behavioral Economics, Cooperative Games - Edgard Gouveia. I also take a huge deal inspiration from dance, and I use movement to help communities lean forward. |
8. Can you frame your philosophy or cosmology of life? What role(s) do humans play in it? | I have worked in the amazon rainforest for part of my life. There, I have learned that certain areas of the rainforest have greater biodiversity and more complex forms of life because of human presence, not in spite of it. I believe its the role of humans to cooperate with other forms of life to bring forward life, love, joy and energy. |
